Sidr Honey Is The Most Expensive Honey In The World

Since September is dubbed the national honey month I thought we’d take a quick look at the world’s most expensive honey. I for one #love my honey and eat copious amounts of it monthly. I always go for the local goods because it supports the economy, as well it helps with my allergies.

For those curious to try the best of the best look no further than the remote mountains of Hadramaut in the Southwestern Arabian Peninsula. This honey is only harvested twice a year and is extremely sought after. There is only one place online you can buy it and it goes for $200 USD per kilogram. There are records of bee keepers in the area going back nearly 7000 years for this impeccable nectar. Studies have shown that this honey has 18 times the antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals as any other honey. Why is it the most expensive? Well, the trek involved just to harvest the honey makes up most of the cost as well as the unique conditions of the bees and area.
