22 May Macallan 57 Year Single Malt Scotch
This 57 year old single malt scotch from Macallan is one of 72 bottles that hit the United States and is luckily up for auction. This is the second oldest whisky ever to be sold by Macallan and comes in a hand crafted bottle and is currently on the market for $17,999 USD. That’s not too bad for a collectors item that will most likely be the only one we see come on the market any time soon….if at all!
The package comes with its own decanter that has been designed by Lalique’s Design Studio who were inspired by the legacy of Rene Lalique to design a decanter featuring the ‘stilligoute’ of a perfume bottle. A portion of the stopper has been left completely clear and not “satinee”, running from the top down to the point. This clear portion represents the 16% ‘finest cut’. When inserted into the elegantly tapering decanter the stilligoutte reflects the natural colours of the 57 year old Macallan through the play of light. I would be so tempted to open this bottle up so hopefully its new owner has much more will power than I do.
