We were thrilled when we were asked to cover the Luxury & Supercar Weekend at Van Dusen Gardens in Vancouver. Like giddy schoolboys, Simon and I showed up, cameras in hand, ready to be blown away. And with over a $100 million in high-end automobiles in attendance, we definitely were.

Walking up to the event, we took a couple pictures of the finally profitable Teslas in the parking lot. After going through the gates, we walked past the line of Porsches and up to the orange creamsicle-colored Bugatti Vitesse on display. I had touched houses worth two and a quarter million dollars before, but never a car. It was a surreal experience to say the least and the crowds surrounding it were evidence the feeling wasn’t ours alone. Another beautiful showing was Pagani’s 1.8 million dollar Carbon Fiber Edition Huayra (say it with me, huai-ra). It is the epitome of a completely bonkers hyper car and it makes me want to put posters up on my bedroom wall. Another stunner was the custom Attivo INIZIO LP700.

ZR Auto Maserati MC12 and Ferrari FXX

Inside the VIP area of the event there were showings from John Fluevog, ZR Auto had an MC12 from Maserati as well as their Enzo ZXX, and there was also a chrome wrapped Gallardo, if you’re into that sort of thing. In addition to the supercars in the VIP area, there were also booths showcasing some high end food and drink including the likes of Cioffi’s, Quattro, CinCin, Tavi Tequila, Guisti, Lusso Verde, Bottega, Faubourg Paris, Raincoast Crisps and Marquis Wine Cellars. Saturday hosted a fashion show and Sunday an art show.

More than just the supercars, though, there were showings from all types, including classic cars like “Great Gatsby” era luxury saloons, American muscle, a peppering of E-Types and even a Messerschmitt bubble top coupé. They also took supercars further with a modified supercar section. But how about we let the pictures do the talking.
